Prof. Dr. Aygul SUEL ​​Biography

 

He was born in 1951 in Istanbul. He completed his undergraduate education at Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography, Department of Ancient Languages ​​and Cultures, Hittitology Department in 1971, his master’s degree in 1974, and his doctorate in 1980. He received the title of Associate Professor in 1986 and Professor in 1994.

 

Professor Süel, the head of the Department of Ancient Languages ​​and Cultures, Department of Hittitology, also took on various administrative and scientific duties and served as a Member of the Editorial Board, Arbitrator, Editor, and consultant.

 

In 2018, he started to work at Hitit University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Archeology Department, as the head of the department. He is still the head of the department at the relevant university.

 

Süel, who has a book on Hittite directive texts, of which he is an expert, and many articles on various subjects such as Hittite music and Hittite law, carry out his studies on Hittite archaeology and philology. Prof. Süel has given conferences and seminars abroad in countries such as France, England, America, Italy, Germany and various cities.

 

He is the President of the International Hittitology Congresses held in Çorum and the Ortaköy-Şapinuva Excavation.

 

Ortaköy-Şapinuva carries out the publication of the cuneiform archive. In addition to Şapinuva excavation and archive studies, project and publication studies on Western Anatolia, Syria studies and Ortaköy Hurrican-Akkadian-Hattice tablets continue.
